Odesa Week In Vancouver May 23-31, 2025

The largest cultural, educational, and support initiative, strengthening the lasting ties between the sister cities of Vancouver and Odesa.

Several Ukrainian organizations and Canadian businesses, activists and volunteers of our community have united to organize the Odesa Week in Vancouver! This is not just an event, but a powerful gesture of solidarity with the city that today not only preserves its unique culture, but also fights for its future.

Proceeds from tickets, sales, auctions and donations collected during the week will go towards helping Odesa and its residents.

Our next Friday Night Supper is May 16th


Join us for a delicious Ukrainian meal at our upcoming Friday Night Supper on May 16, 2025! We are open for both dine-in and takeout from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm. Coffee and non-alcoholic beverages will be available at the bar. Credit, debit and cash are accepted for the bar and dinner. We look forward to welcoming you soon!

Ukrainian Language Classes For Adults – January 2025

Once again, we are pleased to offer Ukrainian language classes. We are very fortunate to have Alla Dudka as our instructor. Alla has been offering classes for the past two years and we very much appreciate her expertise. Our classes are at a beginner level with the following three options:

  • Beginners level 1: Minimal Ukrainian language experience. Classes will take place on Monday evenings via Zoom.
  • Beginners level 2: With some Ukrainian language experience. The students in this class have participated in 10 to 20 lessons and have some basic understanding. The class will be scheduled for one hour on Monday evenings via Zoom.
  • Beginners level 3: This is an advanced beginner’s class. Students in the class have been participating for one to two years and are comfortable having basic conversations. This class will be scheduled for one hour and fifteen minutes on Thursday evenings via Zoom.

Ukrainian Musical Theatre Classes for Children

We are excited to introduce our Children’s Ukrainian Musical Theatre classes! These classes focus on voice training, acting, plasticity, and creative development, and are conducted in both Ukrainian and English.

Class Highlights:
  • Bilingual Instruction: Classes are held in both Ukrainian and English.
  • Parent Viewing: Every two months, parents can attend and observe the classes.
  • Performances: Children will participate in performances for various holidays and special events.
Class Details:
  • Location: Ukrainian Community Society of Ivan Franko, 5311 Francis Road, Richmond.
  • Schedule: Twice a week (Monday and Thursday), from 16:00 to 18:30. Different start times are available for different age groups.
  • Age Group: Classes are available for children aged 4 to 15.

Ukrainian Dance Classes for Children at our Society

We are pleased to partner with Ukraina Dance Ensemble to offer Ukrainian dance classes for children on Fridays from 6:15 pm to 7:15 pm. These classes are offered to children between the ages of 6 and 12 years of age.
